How To Flash Windows Phone 7 to HD2

Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to get Windows Phone 7 on the HD2.

First download the WP7 ROM for HD2. Unrar it. You will find two folder “MAGLDR112” and “LEO70_ROM”

Open MAGLDR112. Connect your HD2 via Activesync (not USD drive mode) and run ROMUpdateUtility.exe

After the update has completed, your device will reboot and few options will appear on your screen. Remove the USB cable. Do not anything with the device right now. Connect your phone to your computer again. Now open, “LEO70_ROM” folder and run DWI.exe. Don’t click on “next”.

Now, on your device, using the “volume down” button, select "5. USB Flasher" followed by green key (dial key). Now click on “next” on your computer and proceed. This will flash WP7 on your HD2, but wait, we are not done yet! It will now reboot. When “1 2 3 4” appears, quickly press volume up key repeatedly until welcome message appears.

Note – After the flash, your SD card will be auto-formatted. I knew about this and used a different card to try Windows Phone 7. So backup before you flash the WP7 ROM.

Note 2 – After the flash, do not ever remove the SD card. Doing so will require a hard reset.
