Indian handset manufactures Lava and Karbonn will be launching windows phone handsets that start at just $100 (INR 6000) and go up to $200 (INR 12000) for the top end model. While detailed specifications of phones from either companies is not available, Lava’s CEO told PTI that it will run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor and run on WP8 operating system.
A series of Windows-based phones will be launched under the Lava brand by July. These will be priced in the range of Rs 6,500-8,500.
We expect the Windows-based phones to represent 8-10 per cent volume of Lava smartphones starting July-August time- frame.
XOLO is also going to launch a WP device as its spokesperson has already confirmed it.
