Custom Ringtones will be made available in the WP7 Mango update (Windows Phone 7.5) but what if you wanted to set your favorite song as ringtone before that? There is a way to do that. Forced NoDo Update
Here is how to force NoDo update if you still have not received it from your carrier / OEM.
Start the Zune PC Client software
1 Make sure you remove your screen lock password from the phone at least for this update process.
2 Turn off the WiFi on your phone in Settings->Wifi and data in Settings->Cellular->Data Connection
3 Connect your phone to your PC via USB cable
4 In Zune PC Client go to Settings-> Phone -> Update
5 When you click to check for updates right away (less than 3 seconds) turn off your laptops WiFi or Lan connection
6 Zune will take a few minutes to continue to look for updates even though the internet connection isn’t there at which point it will pop up a message that there is an Available Update for your phone.
7 Re-Connect the PC to the internet by enabling WIFI or LAN connection
8 Click Update to update your phone.
Believe me, this procedure works.
