HTC is going to release Mango (Windows Phone 7.5) update for its windows phones sometime later this month. But someone at xda-devs has already got hold of this soon-to-be-released ROM. It has been confirmed by many users that it is infact the official ROM meant to be released to the public.
Earlier, there were many unofficial ways that allowed the users to upgrade to the RTM or the developer version of the Mango, but this ROM is specifically made and tweaked for the Mozart windows phone. [via xda-developers]
Keep in mind that if your Windows Phone has HSP / SPL installed or is locked, we request users to stay from this ROM. In simple world, it is for those users who have unbranded European Mozart.
Feel free to read our Windows Phone 7.1 review(which was later renamed to Mango and then to Windows Phone 7.5)
Update – We have flashed it on to our European Mozart (unlocked). We made sure that we are not flashing the SPL.
1) Download the ROM from here. Also, make sure you have winrar installed (trial version is enough)
2) Unrar the file and go into RUU_Mozart_HTC_Europe_4.06.401.00_5.69.09_RELEASE folder.Right click on the exe file and select “Extract to RUU_Mozart_HTC_Europe_4.06.401.00_5.69.09_RELEASE\”.
3) Delete the SPL_signed.nbh and start the ROMUpdateUtility.exe file. Before clicking on next, turn off your windows phone (make sure you backed up your PIM data as everything will be deleted, including your application data. You also need to have Activesync 4.5( XP user) / Windows Mobile device center (Vista,7) installed on your computer). Now, press the power button + volume down button to make go under bootloader mode. After that, proceed with the instructions on the screen. After 7-8 minutes, you will be running Mango (7720) on your Mozart.
