Both PNG and JPG are immensely popular file formats and both are, interestingly very different from one another. PNG stands for portable network graphics and JPG (JPEG) stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group. The main difference between two is that PNG is a lossless file format while JPG is a lossy format. So when you save a file in PNG format, no details are lost but in case of JPG, some detail is lost โ depending on the quality you have specified.
If you have pictures stored on PNG format, you might have noticed that they are huge in size so storing them in JPG makes sense. The simplest way to do is using Movavi converter which lets you convert png to jpg and much, much more. To convert one image format to another, you first need to install the software. Installation takes only few seconds and installation process is user friendly and straight forward. Supported image formats include JPG, PNG, TIFF, BMP and GIF.
Fire up the application and click on Add Image button. You can either select one file or bunch of files as Movavi converter supports batch file conversion. After adding the files, select the format. You can specify this in the bottom of the window. If you are changing from PNG to JPG, select JPG from the drop down list. Now select the destination folder where you wish to store the output files. If you do not specify one, default folder will be used.
Now you can click on the โConvertโ button to start the conversion process. Since the Movavi converter makes use of advance algorithms, it will only take a moment to convert the files from one format to another. The app makes use of multiple cores and threads to speed up the process. After the conversion process, the output folder will automatically open.
As mentioned before, the Movavi converter does much more than just converting images to another format. You get a full featured movie converter too and a audio converter. Even a DVD ripper tool is baked in that lets you rip DVD files and store them in the format of your choice. Basic video editing is supported as well. The app lets you crop, trim, rotate and enhance the videos without using any other editing tool. Captions and watermark can also be added to the videos.
The app is available for both Window and Mac platforms.
