Both PNG and JPG are immensely popular file formats and both are, interestingly very different from one another. PNG stands for portable network graphics and JPG (JPEG) stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group. The main difference between two is that PNG is a lossless file format while JPG is a lossy format.
